The Jeweler’s Players Present: Shakespeare’s Macbeth
March 1 @ 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM| $5 – $30
Macbeth is one of Shakespeare’s most riveting and accessible plays. It also holds unplumbed depths and many themes dear to the Catholic Heart. The Catholic in the modern world sees the witches’ mantra, “fair is foul and foul is fair,” being played out all around him. The play’s theme of the slow suffocation of evil and the dark destruction of sin hearkens back to St. Augustine’s teaching that, “the punishment for sin is sin.” It is a slavery that drags one down into the mires of Hell. It starts small but one keeps returning to it and descends into a vortex of sin. Shakespeare presents us with a spellbinding picture of this in Macbeth so that what is known to be true intellectually is seared into our imagination and becomes a tangible lesson to us all. Come and experience this great play, Macbeth, brought to life by The Jeweler’s Players of St. Augustine’s HEP at Towsley Auditorium on the campus of Washtenaw Community College on February 28th and 29th at 7pm and March 1st at 3pm. Tickets are $5 a student, $8 an adult, or $30 a family. Tickets are available at the door or from: firstname.lastname@example.org.
